Charles Wallace Hamar with his wife, Iva. From Orvella Stewart's photo collection

Charles Wallace Hamar was born on August 18, 1876, in Carmel, Hamilton, Indiana, to Charles Points and Sarah Emily (Williams) Hamar. He was the sixth of seven children. Several researchers have noted that he went by the nickname “Wall” to avoid confusion with his father since they shared the same first name.

He married Iva Susanna Polen on February 2, 1898, in Sparks, Cherry, Nebraska. They had 14 children; three of their children died in childhood. They lived all of their married life in Sparks, Cherry, Nebraska.

On all of the US Census reports, Charles is listed as a Farmer.

Charles lived to be 84 years of age, and died on December 29, 1960, in Valentine, Cherry, Nebraska. He is buried with his wife in the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Valentine.
