Mary Ann Helm was born on June 10, 1773, in Frederick, Virginia, to Meredith and Sarah (Hunter) Helm. She was the third of ten children.
She married James Hamar, Sr. on June 22, 1791, in Mason County, Kentucky. They had eight children: Mary, David, Elizabeth, Achaia, William, Thomas, Horace, and James Jr.
Mary died in 1819, in Mason, Kentucky, when her youngest child was about 10 years old. I have not found any burial records.
