Jacob Jacobson was born in December 1821 in Norway. In Norwegian records is name is sometimes recorded as Jakob Jacobsen. He married Johanna Johnsdatter on November 1, 1850 in Laerdal, Sogn og Fjordane, Norway. They had six children: Guri burn October 6, 1856; Marta born December 31, 1859; Jacob born March 5, 1863; Johanna born January 29, 1964; Brita born March 5, 1867; and Kari born June 16, 1872. All of the children were born in Laerdal, Sogn og Fjordane, Norway.
According to the 1900 census, Jacob came to America in 1885. I am still trying to find details of his journey.
On the 1905 Minnesota Territorial and State Census, Jacob is listed as living with his daughter Martha [Marta] in Canby, Yellow Medicine, Minnesota. Jacob died between 1905 and 1910. I have not yet found his death and burial records.
