Julia Holland was born November 24, 1905 in Hendricks, Lincoln, Minnesota. Below in scans from “Grandmother Remembers” I have shared in her own writing how she described her childhood, growing up, and her wedding.
Her life and prayers are a legacy to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and to those grafted into the family tree. I pray that those who come after her will carry on that legacy to here great-great- grandchildren that we are beginning to welcome in to the family and the many generations to come. This page dedicated to here contains facts and pictures of her life but there is no book or website that could hold all of our fond and wonderful memories of her!
Julia married Herman Ottin Skolrud on January 1926 in Fergus Falls, Otter Tail, Minnesota, in the home of their pastor, Reverend Quello. Herman and Julia had five children: Marian, Milton, Howard, Clinton, and Dennis. The family moved from Minnesota to Winlock, Lewis, Washington in 1952.
Later, Julia moved to Kelso, Cowlitz, Washington, and lived there until she was in her nineties. Unfortunately, after falls that resulted in a broken shoulder and later a broken hip, Julia was no longer to live alone. She lived with her daughter Marian for a while in Mount Vernon, Skagit, Washington, and then moved to an assisted living facility in Centralia, Lewis, Washington.
Grandma Julia loved flowers. She love to grow them, take pictures of them, and take pictures with them.
Julia went to be with her Savior on February 17, 2002 as many of her family stood around her bed and sang hymns. Julia is buried in the Napavine Cemetery in Napavine, Lewis, Washington.
